Handmade card with vintage dress

This week's crafting musing for Handmade Monday is about being rained in and ...have more time to craft !

Normally, this time of the year, I would be mostly outdoors exploring the countryside and not doing much crafting. But, this year....

Well, I quite like to stay snug indoors under the eves of our house listening to the rain and crafting. This week I made more of my handmade cards using spare fabric and other embellishments. As with everything else I found that it takes about three times longer then what I though it would ! Especially as I make all the embellishments on the card, including the dress hanger, which was really fiddly.

The dress on this card is cut out from fabric and sewn on to a card first. Then I made the other embellishments and sewn on some pretty lace to finish. I found that is best to do the whole topper first and then stick it with double sided tape to the card. This way, if I make a mistake I can easily correct it (or make another one...) without damaging my card.

  3. It's a lovely card - I much prefer handmade embellishments as it definitely adds to the uniqueness of the card. I love that the dress is fabric and sewn and the hanger is handmade too x

  8. Perfect little dress and the tiny hanger to go with it is cute. I have learnt to make all my elements up seperately and only put together at the very last minute. Saves such unwanted wastage of both time and effort. hugs Mrs A.
